What’s a good site that gives you free professional website designs?
By now you should have the hang of adding pictures and editing text in the existing text boxes. You should also know how to add new pages to the site by adding them to the menu (see previous tutorial). Now let’s look at adding extra elements to a page and adding pages without them appearing in the menu – it’s the next step to help you create your own website using Webeden. Lets do it – here’s 10 steps to adding extra elements to your pages
Step 1
Click on Files to open the File Manager and then select the Library tab and click on Animations / Handwritten. Click on “Circle it” and select Use this. The animation will be added to the page. By default, the line drawn is white. Select the animation object and in the Editor dialog click on the Style tab and change the colour to black. You can also resize and rotate the animation on the Info tab (see previous page). Position the circle over the top of an area of the page that you want to draw attention to, like a picture.
Step 2
Now add the arrow from the Handwritten section in the same way. Use the Rotate feature on the Info tab to enable freehand rotation using the object’s handles. When you add a page to your site, you can choose from a list of different page types. There are different templates readily available so you don’t have to design a complicated page from the ground up, which makes for a handy shortcut when you’re website building. For example, the blog/news page will create a ready made weblog for you, together with an integrated editor to allow you to add items.
Step 3
You can also add links only, so a button appears in the menu, but no page is created (the opposite of adding a page, but not having it visible). There’s even an image gallery – one tip with images you upload is to ensure the dimensions aren’t larger than you need to keep download times down, somthing you should take not of when you create your own website.
Step 4
Now click on Insert and select Button Link. This will add a bevelled image to the page. Move it to within the left column. Click on the Link tab in the Editor dialog and enter the URL you want to link to, like http://www.webeden.co.uk/. Click on Apply and you’ll see that the text on the button changes also. Click on the Style tab and you can now change the text on the button. Do it in this order, as changing the link will overwrite the text.
Step 5
The next step on your website building fast track is to click on the More arrow in the Editor dialog (top right) and select Body Text Box (you can hover over each icon to get a tooltip). Drag the text box to the left column, underneath the button we just inserted. Use the handles at the corners and bottom of the text frame to resize it to fit within the column. Now select the Style tab and click on the Background button to enable a background for the text frame, and select a colour from the drop down menu to the right, and do the same for the border.
Step 6
An alterative when you make your own website to using the text frame’s background and border is to add a background frame, such as a shape with bevelled edges from the Library, and then add a text box on top, which will show the frame beneath it through it.
Step 7
Now go to Insert / New page and click on the Add new page button; just make it a blank page. Label the page “Chat” and then disable the radio button in the Page visible column. This will add the page to the site without it being added into your automatically generated menu. We will add a link to this new page within the master page, but to do this, you must create the page first as you cannot add a link to a non-existent page, even if you know what you are going to call it. You can still access the page to edit it from the Pages menu – a perfect website building tip.
Step 8
On the new page, double click in the title text box to edit the text and change it to “Chat to other user online” and then single click on the main text box and click on the Delete icon.
Step 9
Now click on the Files button to bring up the File Manager and from the library, select Functional and add the Chat object to the page. Close the File Manager and then resize the chat object to fill the content element of the page underneath the headline. Click on Design / Page master and remember to save the page when it asks you. Always remember this if you want to quickly build your own website!
Step 10
Add a new button link and drag it to the top right of the page, above the date. With the button selected, choose the Link tab in the Editor and select the Pages icon (it looks like horizontal lines). This allows you to link to a page on your site. Select Chat from the drop down menu and click Apply. As before the button’s text will change.
Step 11
In the Style tab change the button text to “Chat to other users”. Click on Save and Exit.
Step 12
Change to the View my site, so you can see the site as a user, rather than editing it, and you will see that we have added a fully featured chat feature to our site, all within the space of a few clicks. What an amazing what to create a website that looks professional and advanced.

Part 2 of How to choose the best one for your Business covers what to think about when choosing a web design company and how to check out the quality of their work. www.howtodowebmarketing.com The video covers items such as the design document, previous experience, checking out their portfolio, support, maintenance, and web hosting. Steve Payne
As the owner of a web design company, helping my client’s launch their new business web design on schedule proves to be challenging at times. From whatever point you look at it, delays are costly. Failing to launch your business website on time may cost you new business, and if you have ongoing marketing and no website to support it or the wrong one, you are losing money that way too. Getting a business web design is serious business, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Why? The bottom line is 85% of all people when surveyed said that they go to the company’s website first prior to calling them or making a purchase.
Here are a few tips for launching your new business web design on time and on budget.
Start with a Plan.
It is important to identify the goals of your website and create a sitemap that will help you support your website goals. Once you have identified your website goal(s) it will help you to decide what information you need to add to your website in order to support those goals, i.e the pages that your website will consist off.
Prepare Your Content.
Probably one of the biggest causes for the delays I see is waiting on a client to provide their website content. This occurs for two reasons, most people don’t like to write or the thought of doing it scares them. I strongly suggest that once you have identified your website pages that you work with a professional copywriter to help you come up with the content for your website. Not only will you get your content prepared, but the right copywriter will capture the essence of what makes your business unique, the right content that captures your website visitors attention and supports the search engine optimization efforts of your website.
Select Images That Communicate Your Message.
Another challenging task when working on your business web design is the ability to select the right images that communicates your message and supports the message of your content. Perhaps you will use images that you took specifically for your website; perhaps you will purchase royalty free stock photography. You can opt to select the images in advance or select it during the design. Affordable stock photography can be purchased through websites such as photos.com, dreamstime.com, istockphoto.com amongst orders. A simple search on Google for “royalty free stock photography “should bring up a lot of options for you to choose from.
Get a Design That Drives Your Message Home.
Obtaining a business web design should be more than about pretty aesthetics, it should be about driving your marketing message home and communicating that message clearly to your website visitors in order to achieve the desired results you seek. Your design should be based around content to further get your point across and drive your message home. More often than not you will find that a simple website that gets to the point will produce better results than a flashy website design.
Ensure that you are Fully Engaged In the Project.
If you are hiring a professional web design company or web designer for your business web design, ensure that you are fully engaged in the project to provide timely feedback and sign-offs. Failure to do so will result in the project being delayed and depending on the terms of your web design contract, it may result in you incurring additional charges.

A coal-and-ice aspect of building a profitable web business is mastering and acquiring the search engines and achieving better search engine hierarchy or commonly known as rankings. How using proper graphic formats is the secret to good website design
There are many different file formats that website design companies can use for site design. However, every specific graphic format has its own function and use and it is a part of good website design to use them judiciously.
Properties that these formats have:
In terms of common properties of these website design graphic formats, there are five main types. These are namely:
- Compression: This refers to the ability to store an image in a smaller file size. This employs using special algorithms to measure pixels as single items.
- Transparency: This varies the opaqueness of an image from being totally solid to being totally see-through or transparent.
- Progressive loading: In this case of website design, a part of the image is loaded first. However, it is not decided on the concept of alternating rows. This allows the picture to get loaded quicker.
- Interlacing: This is much like progressive loading, except that the odd numbered rows of the image appear first, followed by even numbered rows. Users can see images quickly using this format of website design.
- Animation: In this case of website design graphical formats, various still images are moved in quick succession to make it seem like they are moving. Most animated GIF images work on all browsers as they do not need plug-ins for them.
File formats available:
There are three main graphic file formats in website design. These are GIF, JPEG and PNG. One of the oldest formats is GIF and it helps loading images quickly. They have only 8 bits of color and have interlacing and transparency incorporated in them. These are the most common forms of graphics in website design and images look good in such formats. JPEGs are compressed files and have a 24 bit color capacity. In situations where you need high quality images in website design, a JPEG format works well. Compression elements of JPEG files can be easily controlled by a website design company. The download speeds for such format files is faster and in cases of complicated drawings, the overall quality is excellent. In PNG graphic formats, there is support for 24 bit color images. Both interlacing and transparency is incorporated in such images. Such images also can have a description alongside, for use in search engines. Compared to JPEG images, PNG images look much better and hence are preferred where high quality images are needed. Plus, it overcomes the restrictions of an 8 bit color image in website design.

Start Your Own Website Design Business.
It does not take a rocket scientist to know that if you have a great web design for your small business you can draw more attention and potential clients or customers. When you work with a web designer that is experienced and knows what to do it can make a huge difference in the outcome of your website. A website has the ability to take a small business from oblivion to success in a short time when it is designed with the specifications to fit your needs. Here are some things to think about for your small business web design.
Features: In the world of web design there are countless features that you can add to your website to enhance the overall look or ease of use. For example, you could include features that can be helpful such as email, blog, forum, or recent news just to name a few. Having a blog or feedback spot on your website can attract potential customers because they can read actual reviews of your business. It is important though not to overwhelm your website with too many features, sometimes too many features put off more people than attract them.
Graphics: The use of graphics in your small business web design can let your customers see the brands you sell. You can also have a customized graphic of your business logo to let them see what it is that you do and why they would be smart to buy from you.
Ease of Use: This might be the most important factor to consider when you are designing a website for your small business. It can be frustrating for customers when they are surrounded by useless information. It is important to make your small business web design easy to navigate so that your potential clients or customers will not be turned off by your website, they should be excited about how useful it is and easy to figure out.
Designing a website to fit the needs of your business can be time consuming and a little stressful, but if you consider all of the benefits you can obtain from a great small business web design then all the time and stress is worth the effort. Just be sure to include the information that is most important to your business and not fill your site with useless junk. In the long run it will save you energy, time and money and your customers will like it as well.

Even with the best will in the world, any establishment that is poorly arranged and confusing to the customer will struggle to do business. Using a ‘real world, bricks and mortar’ analogy, as a means to better understand the importance of Business Web Design in today’s Online and Internet Marketing World, let’s examine the hypothetical scenario of the ‘difficult to shop in store’.
You’re in the real world, looking to purchase one of the XYZ Company’s highly rated ABCs! A simple enough task in theory, but once you’ve located the store and got through the door it seems you’re no nearer to completing your mission. Are the ABCs on the ground floor or the first? The signs don’t read very well. You manage to get to the first floor but the elevator wasn’t working so you had to take the stairs. You still can’t find what you’re looking for. To make matters worse there doesn’t seem to be anyone around to assist you. Where’s the customer service area? You pretty quickly lose heart and leave the store. The good news is that on your way home you have a look elsewhere for the product you wanted and find a wonderful store that stocks just what you were looking for. The staff are friendly and helpful, the place pleasant and easy to shop in. You’ll definitely be back. So what’s the moral to this tale? Surely it has a happy ending? For you it does, you got what you were looking for, eventually. But it’s bad news for the XYZ Company. Even if their version of the ABC is better than their rivals, they’re not doing anything to keep customers if their store makes it impossible for them to shop. By maintaining a poorly thought out establishment, XYZ is really doomed for failure.
This real world scenario equates directly to what so often happens in an Internet environment. That’s why professional Business Web Design is vital for any business wanting to thrive online. In fact, Internet Commerce is meant to epitomise ease of operation. Make sure your business prospers from a website that works for your customers and for you. I need a cool, catchy name for my web design business and online portfolio. The site will have information about my web design services and show a portfolio of previous work. I’ve got some ideas but would love some suggestions. Thanks!
I am starting up a web design business and I need to find a name. I wanted to use “KL Design” or “KL Designs” but they are already taken. The “KL” are my initials. My slogan is “Honest – Affordable – Dependable” and I live in the Rochester, NY area.. any suggestions?
I have some experience supporting a large website, but not with the entire design process yet. But I really enjoy doing this type of work and would love to make money doing it. I have most of the software I think I would need (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc), as well as space with a hosting service. I am still working on my personal website and I don’t have much to include for a personal portfolio yet. What would be the best steps to take to really venture out on my own by starting my own web design business and find potential customers? With all of the ‘do it yourself’ templates out now, is there a big demand for this type of work still?
Awesome resources and tool I use often in my web design career. www.css-tricks.com http www.bestwebgallery.com http Part 2 will be out soon
